Dynamic compaction is a cost-effective soil improvement technique that densifies weak soil by using the dynamic effect of high energy impacts. This process involves dropping a heavy weight (15-40 tonnes) from a defined height (10-30 m) repeatedly. The impact creates stress waves that help in the densification of the soil, reducing air and water voids between soil particles, resulting in enforced settlement. It is effective in various soil conditions and can densify and compact soil to a depth of 12m.
